Solar Panel Inverter FAQ's

What is a solar inverter?

An inverter simply inverts power from Alternating Current (AC) to Direct Current (DC) or DC to AC power. A solar inverter inverts DC power generated from the solar panel to AC power and helps move the power to your home or the electric grid.

What is a solar power inverter?

A solar power inverter is simply another name for a power inverter that is used to transport solar energy from a solar panel or complete solar array system.

Why do solar cells need an inverter?

Solar panels produce DC power, wheareas appliances inside your home run on AC power. The electric grid also run on AC power. The inverter helps bring these two together, so you can use the power produced from your solar panel system.

How does a solar inverter work?

Well it sounds like magic, but there is a little more to it then that. Solar inverters are specifically designed to recognize the DC generated from the solar power system. Once the inverter receives this current, it converts the power to AC and sends the power to the desired location.

Do I need an inverter for my solar panel?

Yes, you will need an inverter if you are planning to use solar panels to power your home or business, as everything in your home or business likely runs on AC power.

Do solar inverters use power?

A solar inverter may use a very minimal amount of power, but its sole purpose is to translate the energy and move it from point A to B. More power is used in the power's journey through electrical wires then the inverter itself, but either way the effict is nominal.

What is the cost of a solar inverter?

It depends on the amount of power you are wanting inverted, but our solar inverters range anywhere from $100 - $2,000 respectively.

What is the difference between a solar inverter and normal inverter?

Solar inverters are specifically for solar panel systems and the DC that is generated from solar energy.

What is the difference between a hybrid inverter vs normal inverter?

The main difference is a hybrid inverter has the ability to send excess, or power that's not needed, directly to a battery for storage.

What are the advantages of solar inverter?

Solar inverters let you transform the DC generated from the solar panel to AC, so without this you wouldn't be able to use the energy produced from your solar system.

What is an inverter generator?

An inverter genarator is in a completely different category than solar inverters. Injerter generators do the same task as moving the power to the power source, but unlike a solar generator that is taking the power from a panel, the inverter generator uses a different fuel source, such as diesel or gasoline.

How fast will power inverter drain battery?

This depends entirely of the load, or need for power, that you are drawing from the battery. Even without out a load, or zero demand for power, the battery will likely drain at 1 amp per hour.

What will a 1000 watt power inverter run?

A 1,000 watt power inverter is designed to run small appliances such as a computer or coffe maker. To power your entire home, or much more power intensive appliances, you will need to make up for this with a larger inverter or battery storage system.

1500 watt inverter what can it run?

Similar to the above question about 1,000 watt inverters, it will cover whatever appliances reach up to 1,500 watts of power needed.

How long will a deep cycle battery power an inverter?

This is entirely dependent on load amount and battery capacity. It can vary greatly. You can add to the time powered by adding additional batteries if you don't have enough power for your needs.

How many amps does a 1000 watt inverter draw?

Very little if there isn't a demand for power. If there is a demand or you are using the power, then it will depend on what you are powering and the wattage it takes to power your needs.

What is an inverter used for?

An inverter converts DC power from a battery or solar panel into AC power, so it can be used to power a home or the electric grid.
